Mrs. Webb’s
Rules and Expectations
Welcome to 2nd grade! You are in for a great year. This is an outline of my rules and expectations. If you make the right choices and do your personal best throughout the year, you will be successful.
Responsibility
Responsibility is spoken of often and emphasized in everything we do. Being responsible, however, does not mean that you will not get help. You are still learning. I will help you learn strategies to keep yourself organized and successful. Since we are teaching responsibility, not dependency, you will be held accountable for your choices and actions. Please come to school prepared. Phone calls home will not be allowed unless it is an emergency.
Expectations
You will be expected to follow these 7 guidelines to success.
1. Follow directions and listen carefully.
2. Be kind and respect others in words and actions.
3. Be honest in what you say and do.
4. Respect property of others.
5. Complete all work to your personal best.
6. Work and play safely.
Rewards and Consequences
You will have the opportunity to earn many rewards throughout the year if you make great choices. Each child will receive "5 tickets" at the beginning of each week. It is your responsibility to keep up with your tickets. If you choose to follow the rules and expectations you will keep your tickets and be able to purchase rewards on Friday. If you choose not to follow the rules and expectations check marks are given on my behavior sheet along with the following daily consequences:
Verbal Warning
1 Name in Bookk – loss of 1 ticket Behavior Sticker in Agenda
2 Name in Book – loss of a second ticket, Cannot participate in Friday Celebration
3 Name in Book – loss of a third ticket and 10 minutes recess, a behavior form must be completed about the choices made and signed by the parent.
4 Name in Book – loss of a fourth ticket, all of recess, and parent will be contacted by the teacher.
Office referrals are based on the type of misbehavior or choice being made at teacher’s discretion
Every student starts with a clean slate each day.
Classwork and Homework
Most of our assignments will be completed in class. Any unfinished classwork can be completed at home if necessary. Each student will have an absence folder. All missed assignments will be placed into the folder for the student, and should be completed by Friday of the same week. For Friday absences, work is due by the following Tuesday.
Throughout the year, you will be given homework to complete on your own. I believe that homework is important because it helps you to review what we have learned in class as well as develop positive study habits.
Always put forth your best effort on any class and/or homework assignments. I expect all work to be neat and complete. Please try to do the work on your own and only ask for help after you have given it your best effort. Choose a quiet, comfortable place at home to complete homework.
Your assignment book must be filled out completely by the end of each day. It should include all homework assignments including unfinished classwork. Failure to complete your assignment book may cost you a ticket. Failure to have your assignment book signed by a parent nightly will cost you a ticket.
Third grade is fun and challenging. Do your best to come to school each day well rested and ready to learn!
